Spay and neuter of cats and dogs

Affordable spay and neuter packages available!

At Companion Pet Clinic we recommend spaying cats and dogs before the first heat cycle. This can help reduce the risk of certain types of cancers of the reproductive system like uterine, ovarian and mammary cancer. In addition unspayed female cats and dogs have a far greater chance of developing pyrometra (a sometimes fatal uterine infection).

Neutering  is recommended in all male patients prior to their first birthday. This can help reduce the risk of prostate cancer.

Behavioral problems that may be minimized by spay/neuter include: roaming of in-heat females, aggression, excessive barking and dominance related behaviors.

All surgeries include:

  • pre-operative blood work
  • IV catheter and fluids
  • vital monitoring (heart rate, respirations, ECG, blood pressure, oxygen levels)
  • pain management
  • post operative surgical examination
